A true adventurer

Under the hood of the 2022 Ford Ranger is the same 2.3-litre EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine that generates 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, more than enough power to ensure the truck's fantastic speed. This power is transmitted to the wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, shared with other Ford models whose efficiency has been proven.

However, what makes it all-encompassing is its standard all-wheel-drive system, coupled with some even more extreme option packages. The FX4 package is one of them, adding higher and stronger single-tube suspensions, no matter what kind of road you're on. A protective plate under the chassis prevents the engine from being hit. Off-road tires are also part of the addition and an electronic locking rear differential.

Best of all, a display screen in the center of the console provides comprehensive trip information, describing the wheel angle and pitch of the vehicle. An off-road-friendly cruise control called Trail Control and a driving mode management system complete the package. This Terrain System Management allows you to choose between Normal/Herb/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Road or Sand modes. You can decide to change on the fly without stopping, which will change the engine response, transmission response, and other elements, making the ride more efficient in all circumstances.

The 2022 Ford Ranger also has an even more athletic Tremor version for even more spectacular rides. This time, forget about compromises. The Tremor takes the elements of the FX4 and adds the modified Fox 2-inch suspension. An aesthetic package is also in order.

A worker too

The Ford Ranger isn't just a pretty boy who wants to go out and play. It's also capable of working hard and without hesitation. Its maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds (3,402 kilos) is a good example. So is its load capacity of 1,650 pounds (748 kilos).

Depending on the version, the Ford Ranger is offered in a SuperCab version (XL and XLT) with a longer 6-foot box and space for four passengers. It is also available in SuperCrew (XLT and Lariat), leaving room for five passengers and a more extensive interior. However, the cargo box is reduced to 5 feet.

New for 2022, the Ford Ranger is now available in a Splash version with an aesthetic reminiscent of the good old days, featuring a striking colour and colourful appliqués.

Techno too

You can't talk about a Ford vehicle without talking about technology. As with the other models, the Ford Ranger has a long series of driving aids that promote the safety of all occupants. Among them are (standard or optional) the Lane Departure Warning System, BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert and trailer/truck coverage, pre-collision assistance with automatic emergency braking, automatic high beam headlights and a rearview camera.

Convenience is provided by the presence of the SYNC 3 system and its 8-inch touchscreen that facilitates smartphone integration. The Ford Ranger also offers close complicity with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. As for audio, it is provided, as an option, by the Bang & Olufsen system and its ten quality speakers.

FordPass, allowing direct access to the vehicle via your smartphone, and FordPass Connect, allowing subscription-based Wi-Fi access in the van, are also among the technologies offered.
